NARRATIVE TEXT

        Definition
Narrative text is a text which contains about story (complication) then followed by resolution.

Purpose
The purpose of this text is to entertain or to amuse the readers.

Generic Structure
1.   Orientation
Present information about the participants of the story, commonly introduces information about who, where, when.

2.   Complication
Explore the niche of the story. That is conflict among the characters of the story. It will drive the participants to make effort in solving the crisis. Actually in this part crisis rises.

3.   Resolution
The close of the story with solving the crisis. However it can be better or worse. Besides it can be a happy or sad ending.

Language Feature
·         Using past tense

(- ) S + did + not + Verb I + O
( ?) Did + s + Verb I + O ?

·         Using saying and thinking verb
 e.g. : told, decided etc.

·         Using action verb, to indicate the actions
 e.g. : explained, provided etc.

·         Using Conjunction
 e.g. : later, then, however etc.


·         Using adjective and adverb
 e.g. : a nice, good boy, a handsome etc.
 once upon a time, long time ago,
 in the far away etc.
